O Sorcerer foi fundado em 1988, tendo se separado em 1992 e retornado em 2010. The Crowning of the Fire King é o segundo full-length da banda de Epic Doom Metal formada pelos fundadores Anders Engberg (vocais) e Johnny Hagel (contrabaixo), além dos guitarristas Kristian Niemann e Peter Hallgren e do novato baterista Richard Evensand.
